Every session is fully custom: planned around your family’s personality, the ages of your children, your preferred style, and where you want the portraits displayed in your home. Sessions are available at her dedicated commercial studio in Lakewood Ranch Corporate Park, at beach and outdoor locations across Sarasota and Bradenton, or in your own home. The finished portraits - fine art prints, custom albums, and wall art - are produced to heirloom quality on materials built to last generations. ✔ Optional at-home wardrobe consultation: Sylwia can come to your home to help coordinate your family’s outfits before the session - going through your actual closets, pulling looks together, and ensuring everyone coordinates without looking costume-matched. This appointment is available on request and makes a significant difference in the final portraits.

✔ Expert posing and direction: Every family is directed through the session - you don’t need to know how to pose or what to do. Sylwia is specifically experienced working with young children (including toddlers and infants), large multi-generational groups, and families who’ve never done professional portraits before. The goal is genuine connection, not stiff smiles.

✔ Flexible session formats: Fully custom sessions are available any time. Mini sessions are offered on select Mini Marathon Days for families who want a shorter, more streamlined experience. Both options are available - the right choice depends on how you want to use your images and how much variety you want in your final portraits.

✔ Your choice of location: Sessions are available at the commercial studio at 7037 Professional Pkwy E, Suite A in Lakewood Ranch; at beach and outdoor locations throughout Sarasota and Bradenton (Casey Key, Siesta Key, Lido Key, local parks and preserves); or in your own home for an intimate, lifestyle-style session.

Your FAMILY Session — What to Expect

Families come to Sylwia Ok Photography at all kinds of moments - a new baby joining the family, a child about to leave for college, grandparents visiting who won’t all be in the same place again for years, a milestone anniversary, or simply the recognition that the kids are at an age you want to remember forever. What every family shares is the sense that this particular version of your family - right now - deserves to be preserved properly.

The session itself begins well before the session day. In the planning consultation, Sylwia learns about your family: how old your children are, whether you have pets you’d like to include, what style of portraiture feels right to you (classic and formal, natural and relaxed, fine art and dramatic), and where you want the finished images to live in your home. That last question matters more than most families expect - the wall above your fireplace calls for a different portrait than the hallway gallery wall, and knowing that before the session shapes everything from location to composition to final product.

On session day, Sylwia directs every element. Families don’t need to arrive with poses in mind or children who perform on cue. She works naturally with young children - including toddlers who won’t stand still, babies who need feeding breaks, and teenagers who’d rather be anywhere else. The images that come from a guided session look different from the ones families try to take themselves, because the direction is specific: where to stand, how to lean, what to do with your hands, how to turn toward each other in a way that reads as warmth rather than awkwardness.

After the session, you’ll meet with Sylwia to view your portraits and choose the ones you want to keep.   • 1 | CALL

    Reach out by phone (941-224-0550), the scheduling link, or the contact form. The first conversation is a no-obligation call where you can ask questions about the process, describe what you’re hoping to capture, and get a sense of whether Sylwia is the right fit for your family.

    Most families book their consultation within that first call. There’s no sales pressure and no commitment required to have the conversation.

  • 2 | CONSULTATION

    The consultation is where your session is designed. Sylwia will ask about your family - ages of your children, any special considerations (mobility, infants, teenagers who might need some coaxing), the style and feel you’re drawn to, and where you want to display the final portraits. She’ll recommend a location based on your aesthetic and the season, and walk you through outfit coordination so your family arrives looking cohesive without looking identical.

    The optional at-home wardrobe appointment, where Sylwia comes to your home and pulls looks together from your actual closets, is available for families who want that level of preparation.

    Most families who use it say it was the most helpful part of the whole process.

  • 3 | YOUR SESSION

    On session day, you show up. Sylwia does the rest. She’ll guide your family through every element of the session, where to stand, how to interact, how to find the expressions that read as genuine rather than posed.

    She’s worked with families at every level of camera comfort, including toddlers in full meltdown mode, teenagers who need a different kind of direction, and large family groups that need logistics as much as artistry.

    Sessions typically run 1–2 hours for full custom sessions; mini sessions run 20–30 minutes.

    Your ordering appointment takes place either at the end of your session or within one week. You’ll view your portraits in person, large, clear, and in the context Sylwia prepares for the viewing.

    She’ll help you think through which images work best as wall art versus albums versus digital files, and how different sizes will look in the specific spaces in your home.

    You choose only what you love; there’s no minimum purchase and no pressure. Digital files, prints, albums, and wall art are all available.

    Custom albums typically take 4–6 weeks; wall art 3–4 weeks; digital files are delivered within 10 business days of ordering.

  • Location depends on your family’s style, the time of year, and what you want to display in your home. For beach portraits, Siesta Key, Casey Key, and Lido Key are the most popular - each has a different character. Siesta Key offers the classic white-sand Gulf setting; Casey Key is quieter and more private; Lido Key provides a wider beach with easy access for large groups. For a non-beach look, local parks, nature preserves, and wooded settings around Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch offer beautiful natural light and texture. The Lakewood Ranch studio is ideal for clean studio portraits, fine art work, and sessions during hot summer months or when unpredictable weather makes outdoor planning difficult. In-home sessions are available for families who want a lifestyle feel. Location is discussed and finalized during the consultation - Sylwia will recommend what’s best for your aesthetic and session timing.

  • Yes - outfit coordination is one of the most important and most commonly overthought parts of a session. The goal is a cohesive color palette, not identical outfits. Sylwia recommends choosing 2–3 anchor colors and building everyone’s look around those - complementary tones, varied textures, different silhouettes. Avoid large logos, busy patterns, and neon colors, which distract from faces and date quickly in photos. Neutral bases (white, cream, navy, tan, sage) with one or two accent colors tend to produce the most timeless portraits. For families who want hands-on help, Sylwia offers an optional at-home wardrobe appointment where she comes to your home and pulls looks together from your actual closets. Most families who use this service say it eliminated all the pre-session outfit stress. Outfit guidance is also provided in detail during the consultation for families who prefer to coordinate on their own.

  • For outdoor and beach sessions, if the weather isn’t suitable on your scheduled day - rain, storms, or extreme heat - you’ll reschedule at no additional charge. Sylwia recommends having a backup date in mind when you book an outdoor session, especially during Sarasota’s summer rainy season (June through September). For studio sessions, weather generally doesn’t affect scheduling, but if severe weather makes travel unsafe, sessions are rescheduled with no penalty. Your comfort and safety are always the priority. Weather rescheduling is handled directly and without hassle - it’s a normal part of outdoor portrait work in Florida.

  • Yes to both. Extended family sessions - including multi-generational groups with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins - require additional planning for logistics and timing. The consultation is especially important for large group sessions so that Sylwia can account for the number of groupings, the time needed, and any special considerations (elderly family members who need seating, young children who need breaks, etc.). Pets are welcome and encouraged - dogs in particular photograph beautifully and add genuine energy to family portraits. For pet-inclusive sessions, just mention it at booking so the session can be planned accordingly (outdoor or studio depending on your pet’s comfort, extra time for pet wrangling if needed).

  • Your ordering appointment is scheduled during the session itself or within one week of your session date. At the ordering appointment, you view your portraits and select your products. From the time of your order: digital files are delivered within 10 business days; fine art prints within 2–3 weeks; custom albums within 4–6 weeks; wall art within 3–4 weeks. Wall art delivery includes complimentary installation - Sylwia will schedule a time to hang your portraits once they arrive. You’ll receive an order confirmation with your specific timeline after the ordering appointment.
