Sessions are available at her purpose-built commercial studio in Lakewood Ranch Corporate Park - fully equipped with newborn props, wraps, outfits, and temperature-controlled comfort - or as an in-home mobile studio session for families who prefer to stay close to home in those first tender weeks.

Your NEWBORN Session — What to Expect

Newborn sessions with Sylwia Ok Photography are intentionally slow. There is no schedule to keep, no next appointment waiting. Your baby eats when they're hungry, sleeps when they're ready, and gets cuddled whenever they need it, because the best newborn portraits happen when a baby is completely calm and comfortable, not when a photographer is watching the clock.

Sessions typically last 3 to 4 hours, with time built in for feedings, diaper changes, soothing, and whatever else your brand-new family needs. Sylwia works with parents, siblings, and grandparents throughout the session, capturing not just the baby, but the whole constellation of love that surrounds them.

The studio is stocked with a curated wardrobe of newborn wraps, outfits, hats, and props, all cleaned and prepared between sessions. For families who prefer the comfort of home, Sylwia brings a complete mobile setup to you. Either way, the result is the same: portraits so beautiful, so soft, and so precisely you that you'll want them on every wall in your house.

Newborn Safety - Always the First Priority

Newborn photography requires a specific set of skills that go beyond general portrait photography. Safely posing a newborn, those iconic curled, tucked, and sleeping poses - requires training, experience, and an absolute commitment to never placing a baby in a position that creates any risk, however slight.

Sylwia Ok Photography has 13+ years of dedicated experience working with newborns from 7 days to 3 months old. Every pose is executed with hands-on safety support - composite images are used whenever a pose requires it, ensuring your baby is never unsupported, even for a moment. The studio is kept warm for bare-skin sessions, all props and wraps are sanitized between sessions, and sessions are never rushed to accommodate a timeline.

WHEN TO SCHEDULE YOUR NEWBORN SESSION?

The sweet spot for newborn portraits is within the first 5 to 21 days after birth, when babies are still in that deeply sleepy, curl-up-and-melt phase that makes the most classic newborn poses possible. Sylwia has successfully photographed newborns as young as 7 days and as old as 3 months, so it's never too late, but earlier is better for the full range of poses.

Because the booking window is so short and the ideal timing so specific, Sylwia recommends booking your newborn session during your third trimester, typically around 28 to 32 weeks. Sessions are tentatively scheduled around your due date and confirmed once your baby arrives.

If your baby has already arrived and you haven't booked yet, reach out anyway. Sylwia will do everything possible to accommodate your family.

    Before your session, you and Sylwia will discuss your vision - the mood, the props, the outfits, whether you want siblings and parents included, and any themes or color palettes that feel right for your family.

    If you're not sure what you want, Sylwia will guide you through options with an inspirational board.

  • 3. SESSION

    Sessions are led entirely by your baby's rhythm. Sylwia works patiently through feedings, fussiness, and all the beautiful unpredictability of a brand-new human.

    She'll guide parents and siblings naturally through the session, weaving in family portraits alongside the baby solo images. There is no rushing, ever.

    Within your session or within one week, you'll meet with Sylwia to view your portraits and choose your favorites.

 FAQs

  • It's best to schedule your newborn portraits is within the first 21 days after birth when babies are sleepier and more flexible for posing. But also consider your own post delivery recovery. I photographed successfully newborns as young as 7 days old and as “old” as 3 months old - so it’s never too late to have them done!

  • Newborn sessions average 3–4 hours, though every session is different. A baby who feeds and settles quickly may wrap up in 2.5 hours. A baby who needs multiple long feeds and settling breaks may take 4 hours or more. There is no rush and no clock pressure. Sessions are scheduled with the next appointment well after yours so that the time is genuinely flexible. Parents should plan for a relaxed half-day. Bring whatever you need to be comfortable: extra milk or formula, snacks for yourself, a change of clothes for the baby, and anything that helps your baby settle.

  • Most newborn sessions take place at Sylwia’s commercial studio at 7037 Professional Pkwy E, Suite A, Sarasota FL 34240 in Lakewood Ranch Corporate Park. The studio is fully equipped for newborn sessions: a complete prop collection, wraps, outfits, and backdrops in multiple color palettes, all laundered and sanitized between sessions. The studio is kept at a warm temperature throughout every newborn session to keep babies comfortable and drowsy. In-home sessions are also available for families who prefer their own environment - Sylwia brings all necessary equipment and sets up in your space. In-home sessions have a setup fee; contact the studio for details.

  • Absolutely! I highly encourage having the closest family being photographed with the baby. As for dogs, let’s tap about your furry family member and see if his/her temperament is suitable for studio and the baby. Baby’s safety always comes first for me.

  • No , it’s never too late. Sylwia has photographed newborns as young as 5 days and as old as 3 months. Babies photographed at 3–8 weeks are more awake and expressive, which produces a different but equally beautiful portrait style - more interaction, more open eyes, more of the baby’s emerging personality. Babies photographed at 2–3 months are typically no longer in the ‘newborn’ style but transition beautifully into a milestone portrait session. If you’re unsure which approach is right for your baby’s current age, call the studio and Sylwia will help you decide.
