I’m excited to partner with Sea of Strengths Academy to create beautiful, contemporary school portraits for SOSA students.

School portraits should feel like your child, not simply another required school photo.

My goal is to create portraits that capture genuine personality, confidence and expression while giving families a beautiful record of who their child is during this season of their school journey.

School portraits have come a long way from stiff poses and forced smiles.

During Portrait Day, each student will be photographed individually in a relaxed, encouraging environment. I’ll guide them throughout their short session while allowing their individual personality to come through.

For younger students, that may mean capturing a bright smile or a playful expression.

For middle and high school students, the experience becomes a little more sophisticated, with portraits that feel confident, natural and age-appropriate.

The result is a collection of portraits that feels personal, timeless and genuinely reflective of your child.

PREPARING FOR PORTRAIT DAY

A little preparation can make Portrait Day even smoother.

CLOTHING

Please follow any clothing or uniform guidelines provided by Sea of Strengths Academy for Portrait Day.

Before leaving home, take a quick look at the details:

Make sure clothing is clean and wrinkle-free.
Check collars, buttons and layers.
Choose coordinating socks and shoes when applicable, as they may appear in some portraits.
Keep accessories simple so the focus remains on your child.
If your student wears glasses, they are absolutely welcome to wear them.

Most importantly, choose something your child feels comfortable and confident wearing.

HAIR & GROOMING

Please style your child’s hair before arriving at school. Small touch-ups can be made immediately before their portrait, but Portrait Day moves quickly and major hairstyling changes will not be possible.

For older students, simple grooming and natural makeup photograph beautifully.

THE PORTRAIT EXPERIENCE

NO STIFF POSES. NO FORCED SMILES.

My approach to school photography is simple. Create a comfortable environment, give students clear direction and capture authentic expressions.

Some students are immediately comfortable in front of the camera. Others need a little more encouragement. Both are completely normal.

I work quickly while still giving each student enough individual attention to create variety.

Students may be photographed:

smiling naturally
with a softer expression
in several slightly different poses
with both closer and wider compositions when appropriate

Every student is different, so the exact number and variety of portraits may vary.

DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS FROM ELEMENTARY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL

One of the things I love about photographing a K–12 school community is seeing how much students change from year to year.

For younger students, annual portraits preserve those quickly changing childhood years.

For middle school students, they document a period of tremendous growth and emerging personality.

For high school students, portraits begin to feel like part of their personal history and may become some of the last traditional school portraits families receive before graduation.

My goal is to make each portrait appropriate for the student’s age while keeping the overall collection cohesive for the school.

SIBLINGS AT SOSA

Have more than one child attending Sea of Strengths Academy?

Each student will receive their own individual portrait gallery.

When scheduling permits, I will also photograph siblings together so families have the opportunity to purchase a portrait of their children together.

Sibling portraits are a wonderful way to document this chapter of their school years.

HOW PORTRAIT DAY WORKS

I want the entire experience, from Portrait Day through ordering, to be simple for families.

There are no paper proof sheets and no obligation to purchase portraits before seeing them.

1. PORTRAIT DAY

Your student is photographed during the school day at Sea of Strengths Academy.

2. YOUR PRIVATE GALLERY IS CREATED

After Portrait Day, each student is matched with their own private online gallery.

3. GALLERY RELEASE

Once the portraits are ready, approximately 4 weeks after Portrait Day, parents will receive an email and/or text message with instructions for accessing their child’s gallery.

4. VIEW BEFORE YOU BUY

You’ll be able to see your child’s portraits before deciding what you would like to purchase.

Choose only the portraits you love.

5. ORDER ONLINE

Portrait packages, digital files and printed artwork will be available directly through the online ordering gallery.

WHAT WILL BE IN MY CHILD’S GALLERY?

Each student will receive a curated collection of professionally prepared portraits.

A typical gallery will include approximately 3–6 portrait options, although the exact number may vary depending on the student, their comfort level and the variety captured during their session.

I focus on quality rather than creating dozens of nearly identical images.

The goal is to give you a beautiful selection without making the ordering process overwhelming.

SIMPLE ONLINE ORDERING

During Portrait Ordering Week, families will have access to specially priced school portrait collections.

Options may include:

Professional photographic prints
High-resolution digital portraits
Print + digital collections
Full-gallery digital collections
Specialty portrait products

You are never required to purchase a package before seeing your portraits.

See them first. Choose what you love.

After Portrait Ordering Week ends, the gallery will remain available for a limited additional period with individual à la carte pricing before being archived.

PROFESSIONAL PRINTS

If you choose printed portraits, your images will be produced through my professional photographic lab using archival-quality materials designed for beautiful color, detail and longevity.

Print orders will be delivered according to the instructions provided during ordering.

DIGITAL PORTRAITS

Digital portrait collections include high-resolution files suitable for personal printing, sharing with family and preserving in your family archive.

Digital files are delivered electronically through your private portrait gallery.

A PORTRAIT OF WHO THEY ARE RIGHT NOW

One of my favorite things about school portraits is realizing how valuable they become later.

Children change.

Their expressions change.

Their confidence changes.

Their interests, hairstyles, friendships and dreams change.

The photograph that feels like “just this year’s school picture” today often becomes one of the images parents treasure years from now.

My goal is to create something a little more meaningful than the traditional school photograph.
